What should I look for in an Apprentice?
If you are interested in taking on a young person as an apprentice, you should contact PMST for advice on the steps you need to take to secure funding for your apprentice.
The mandatory entry requirement for Plumbing and HVACR Apprenticeships Level 2 and 3 has been set by Industry as:-
GCSE grade "C" qualifications in Maths and English plus a total of 16 points derived from all GCSE results.

Look for school or college leavers, aged 16-24, who could be eligible for Modern Apprenticeship funding. We will also advise you on the college courses local to your area, and the availability of places.
The Department of Employment & Learning has indicated that Essential Skills level 2 in Maths and English is equivalent to GCSE C grade. Please note that employers will indicate the level acceptable to them at recruitment stage
